Cover ArtUsing rigorous, nationally-representative data, the Center for Talent Innovation’s report Disabilities and Inclusion has uncovered that employees with disabilities make up an enormous talent pool. The research finds that 30 percent of college-educated employees between the ages of 21 and 65 working full-time in white-collar professions in the U.S. have a disability, according to the new, broader U.S. federal definition of disabilities (finalized in 2016, the definition now more clearly outlines what are considered mental health and chronic conditions). Yet they face significant challenges: Of those who have market-worthy ideas, 48 percent say their ideas were not endorsed by people with the power to act on them. Additionally, 57 percent feel stalled in their careers. Disabilities and Inclusion highlights ways employers can signal inclusion to employees with disabilities.
